Finding the right Valentine's Day gift is probably the most difficult shopping experience in any man's life. It isn't the same as buying a birthday gift - choosing a gift for this special occasion won't just show your affection toward her, but could show how committed you feel towards her. It can also be a good idea to choose carefully in case you don’t want to put her off by being over-keen!

The nature of the gift can reflect how much you care, or don't care, about her. The meaning of your gift also varies according to the seriousness and the type of relationship you're in. Here are a few basic gift ideas.

Buying her a card and flowers is acceptable for this early stage in a relationship, or when your involvement is relatively low level. But buying a little something extra to go with those flowers can make a big difference. Something amusing or different could lift those flowers from Anonymous to Personal in a stroke. Buying clothes or lingerie is a lovely, thoughtful idea, but sizing is always a pitfall – personal items really do need to be tried on by the wearer, since not many of us have perfect figures. When choosing perfume, it’s difficult to know what she would like. You can take a peek at what she already has, but why not let her try something different? Jewellery is always a really welcome gift for any woman. Generally you only need to glance at a woman to tell what type of jewellery she prefers. Gold or silver; highly detailed or classic simple design; purely metal, or with incorporated gemstones; costume jewellery, Celtic design, mock Victoriana. She will appreciate the thought you have put into the choosing.

There is no way you can predict what type of handbag a woman will like. There is such a diversity of choice that it can make you dizzy just looking at the abundance of styles. So what do you do? The best gift we could suggest for today’s woman is our new Makeover Experience. This is an amazing half-day of treats which will give her the feeling that she truly is a special person.
